Joe Uptain founded MedCo with a vision of increasing healthcare collections while treating the patient community with dignity and respect. From day one, MedCo’s methodology has been to hold the patient in high regard while determining the patient’s ability to meet their financial obligations. Part collections, part financial advising, MedCo’s methods have helped the patient community meet those obligations.

History

In consideration of both healthcare’s financial environment and provider needs, MedCo has reinvented itself many times. As a pioneer of the Early Out process, MedCo worked to educate providers on the benefits of outsourcing revenue recovery earlier in order to minimize the higher cost encounter. MedCo was quick to adopt technology in the early years to increase efficiency and provide recovery rates that exceed accepted standards.

To this day MedCo excels in technology, employing full time programmers, network engineers, and network administrators to continually improve its processes and operations. MedCo utilizes its proprietary CMS software, along with advanced dialer capabilities, to manage its Extended Business offerings. Built on over 20 years of best practices, CMS interfaces with any provider system. It imports facility information to be managed within CMS itself, and in return gives daily updates of account notes and collection results back to the provider system. MedCo’s MCA client portal allows providers real-time access and full transparency to any account’s status.

Over the years, MedCo has listened to its customers and expanded its Extended Business Office capabilities to include not just Early Out and Bad Debt, but also Pre-Registration for provider facilities, Insurance follow up, and Insurance projects to recover mis-coded or denied benefits. Additionally, MedCo offers recovery analytics and consultation to share its best practices in regards to the revenue cycle. From humble beginnings to an industry leader, MedCo is capable and poised to help any facility achieve Revenue Cycle EXCELLENCE now and for years to come.
