New Year. New Goals.

Have you quit your resolution yet? On average, people break their New Year Resolution in about 32 days. With 356 days to accomplish goals in a calendar year, it is easy to get caught up in long term goals and leave short term goals behind. “We turn not older with years but newer every day.” – Emily Dickinson

Whether that goal means losing weight, working out, or simply eating healthier, the pandemic has allowed people to reevaluate their goals in their personal life. With evolving times, more and more companies are allowing their employees to have a better professional and personal life balance. This creates opportunities for people to set small goals and routines that are more attainable than years before. To start the new year right, MedCo held a Biggest Loser contest throughout the holiday season. Teams were formed as participants competed in weight loss and exercise minutes. Everyone was encouraged to participate so their 2022 resolution was more attainable when the time came.

“It is a lot harder to keep people well than it is to just get them over a sickness. Take care of yourself.” – D. C. Jarvis. For people wanting to improve their health, now might be a good time to start catching up on the routine visits that have been set aside. The benefits of a routine checkup include discovering underlying problems, maintaining current conditions, and preventing future conditions that can lead to more visits down the road.

As a business, the goal is usually to do better than the year before. With the pandemic, many companies are hoping that 2022 results return to preCovid numbers. Much of that will rely on employee health as well as the health of the general population.  According to a World Health Organization survey, from January through March 2021, about 94% of participating countries reported some kind of disruption to health services. Among the most affected were primary care, rehabilitative, palliative, and long-term care. Most insurances will cover a majority if not all of a routine office visit. This is in place to help people prevent future health concerns.

Here are a few things that MedCo is doing to encourage their team members throughout 2022:

1. Up to date Covid procedures in the office

2. Allow WFH to prevent unnecessary exposure

2. Provide water bottles to encourage more water intake during work

3. Healthy tips in our community board

4. Stretches and exercises that can be done at the desk to promote being active

5. A wellness committee to continuously offer new ideas in the workplace

Healthcare in general is seeking to find a new normal throughout the pandemic. At the end of the day, there are people in need and goals to meet. Most Healthcare systems look to the new year and set goals to have better KPIs. Is your facility looking to see more patients, update your systems to improve the work environment, or maybe even to close out old patient accounts?

At MedCo we are setting goals to help Healthcare reach their achievements. With upgraded technology, enhanced patient engagement, zero balance audits and more. Our goal in 2022 is to provide healthcare systems with a solution for all of their healthcare needs.
